At a time when I most needed to confront my truth, Donna was there. With encouragement and compassion, she challenged me to acknowledge what for years I had been pretending not to know. When she looked into my eyes, she saw my heart. My tears were familiar to her. I’m not good enough. I’m not pretty enough. I don’t deserve the things I long for. At that moment, I absolutely knew she got it. I didn’t yet know her story. But I knew she understood more than I did about me. This, combined with Donna’s gift for getting at the truth, led me to some intense moments of honesty with myself. It led me to MY truth. And when you know your truth, you are powerful.
